Sketched image in pencil, and altered: digitally, with acrylic paint, and with fabric paint


This is an image I sketched in pencil and then altered digitally.  I kind of like the pixelated quality, which, of course, could be translated further into a fabric patchwork or even a mosaic rendition.   My sketch is from a wall painting from Pompeii, Portrait of a Young Woman With Stylus.   I've used this image in other works of art, altering it to suit the piece.  Interestingly, some of that art exists now only in digital form, since I painted over it.  For example, I have the photo only of this acrylic on canvas painting:


From an acrylic painting on canvas, I moved into paint on fabric to create this tiny 12" x 12" art quilt piece for a members' show at the San Diego, CA Visions Art Museum:
